Building AI Capability Across Our Businesses
Artificial intelligence is reshaping how businesses operate but for many organisations, the gap between awareness and real application is still significant.
At Sunny Balcony, our focus isn’t just on understanding AI it’s on embedding it into how our teams work every day, in a way that is practical, responsible, and commercially meaningful.
From awareness to application
We’ve been investing in building AI capability across the Sunny Balcony Group through hands-on workshops, training and the development of real use cases. These recent sessions are designed to move beyond theory helping teams understand how AI can support their day-to-day work, from research and content creation through to workflow automation and process improvement. The focus is simple: where can AI create real value, and how do we apply it in a way that improves both quality and efficiency?
There is often a misconception that AI is about replacing jobs. Our approach is the opposite. For us, AI is about giving our people better tools to do their jobs more effectively, reducing low-value manual work, and creating more space for strategic thinking and problem-solving. Building this capability across the business is a key part of how we continue to grow, ensuring our teams are equipped to adapt and thrive as technology evolves.
A considered approach to change
Introducing AI at scale is not just a technology shift it’s a people and change management journey. As Nicola Mills, Group Managing Director, puts it:
“Embedding AI into how we work requires continuous adaptation. The technology is evolving quickly, and so are our teams. Our focus is on making sure people have the tools, training and confidence to use AI in a way that genuinely adds value to their work.”
“What’s been important is ensuring it feels practical and supported, not overwhelming. As teams build confidence, we’re seeing AI become a natural part of how work gets done, improving both efficiency and the quality of outputs.”
This approach of balancing ambition with support has been critical to driving adoption across the group.
Early impact and momentum
AI capability across the group is well established, but it continues to evolve rapidly as new tools, use cases and opportunities emerge. Across the business, teams are actively applying AI in a range of ways, while continuing to evolve how it is used as tools and opportunities develop:
- Streamlining manual processes
- Supporting research and content creation
- Embedding AI into day-to-day workflows
Importantly, this is not being driven by theory or top-down mandates it is being embedded through practical application and real business needs. That momentum is what will ultimately drive long-term impact.
The role of AIQ Innovation
Supporting this journey is AIQ Innovation, our dedicated AI Innovation business within the Sunny Balcony Group. AIQ Innovation works closely with teams across the group to:
- Identify automation and efficiency opportunities
- Build practical AI workflows and solutions
- Provide training and support to build internal capability
Supporting business growth has always been at the core of Sunny Balcony. As we continue to scale our AI capability internally, the AIQ team are already working alongside external organisations to help them do the same, translating AI into practical and valuable outcomes.
Building for the future
At Sunny Balcony, we see AI not as a one-off initiative, but as an ongoing capability that will shape how businesses operate in the years ahead.
The organisations that succeed will be those that invest not just in technology, but in people by building the confidence, skills and mindset needed to adapt. We’re committed to continuing that journey, learning, evolving and building capability across our businesses as we go.
If you’re exploring how to implement AI within your own organisation, AIQ Innovation can support you with practical, outcomes-driven solutions.
